- Under general anesthesia if upper and lower blepharoplasty is also planned
- Under local anesthesia for upper blepharoplasty alone
The surgeon extracts a small amount of fat from the abdomen or inner knees (liposuction) using a micro-cannula. The fat is then rinsed and defibrosed, making it particularly fluid. It is then treated with a special filter before being injected deeply with a micro-cannula into the targeted eyelid area. This technique is well-tolerated and offers a natural result.
This procedure may cause bruising and swelling of the eyelids, which may last a few days but resolve naturally.
Post-Operative Care for Augmentation Blepharoplasty
After eyelid surgery, you will need to use eye drops and apply ice to protect your eyelids and reduce swelling. You will also need to rest and avoid wearing contact lenses until the incisions have healed, which typically takes about two weeks.
